Think back to the beginning of the internship. what were your goals ? did you achieve these goals? if so, if so, what did you have to do consistently to achieve the goals?
well first able at beginning of the internship in my case I worked in the hospital so I must to talk with my supervisor what department of the hospital I'll would like to work I choice at Physical Therapist department and before start my internship I visualize myself working like a assistance ad follow the Physical therapist and learn all the thing I can and give the best of me and I was lucky because this was all I wanted to do I assisted two physical and for me was a really good experience work with my supervisors and worked with patient directly .
What are the most important ideas or skills you've learned in the last 10 weeks?
Working at the hospital was a good experience see how is important to determinate what do you want to do for the future and make a good decision if you like help people. the important skills I learned during was be compassion and give my services to help others, be patient really patient, have a strong personalty and control yourself and be amiable this important skill could help to be a doctor in the future.
What having a relationship with a professional employee such as your supervisor/mentor meant to your personal development ? how have you grown a student and /or young adult in this relatively new country ?
at the beginning of my internship my first day was horrible but when I started work with my two supervisor was really cool because he from Haiti and he really understand my position now, be a immigrant and started a new life is difficult so he was really patient with me and at first day I meet with my supervisor I already let him know what way I would like to work and he said me he will give the best internship I never had at my first time to intern in the hospital so I was really lucky work with these supervisors my relationship with them was very respectful and friendly not only with my supervisor with everybody in every floor of the hospital because my supervisors want to make me feel part of the team so they introduce me with the doctors, nurses, patients, employers who working transportation everybody was nice work with them.
What were the highlights memorable moments of your internship experience ?
my highlights hospital memorable moments in the hospital was one day when my supervisor and I evaluate a patient who come from Cuba and her legs was impute and she were two moths in the bed was really sad, so her family want to this women her name is Mercedes and want to was feel the wheelchair and Mercedes was crying and happy because she move of the bed so I felt good to help this woman to try move of the bed but I felt glad to help Mercedes feel good .
What are your thoughts about jobs, carriers, or the professional world in general as a result of having spend 125 hours working in it ?
well this experience was really a good example about how people get success though go to college is really hard to create expatiation and have goals is really hard to complete those things but the strong is the people who go toward in the life and the life outside is really hard how many things you need to do to get the jobs is really complicated but was a really good experience to see how the life look like when you finish high school.
After high school, what do you want to pursue for a carrier? are you more or less interested in college as as result of your internship ?
yes I would like get more experience and explorer new things before make a decision its good because you must to think carefully what do you want become for the future so this internship was like a mirror for me had this opportunity to see how is college so important to people who want to get a better future.
What were your biggest challenges to overcome and how did you handle those challenges?
My challenges during my internship was sent me to another floor and looking for papers or stuff like that move around was really hard because this hospital its a huge hospital so don't lost myself inside the hospital was really challenge and another I had was follow the instructions during patient evaluation was really hard the first days but at the end I learned used the physical therapist tools and all the time I ask to my supervisor questions and also ask for feedback to get during my internship this way help me to handle my challenges.
If you were to start a brand new internship next week, what are least two things you would do differently ?
Well if I bring a new intern to the hospital I must to make sure if that person want to work in the hospital and make sure also what thing him or her want to work during their internship and let know this new intern what types of responsibilities this internship will be have so that important explain more clear possible .
Think of two three pieces of advice you could offer a new intern at your site ?
for all the student who want to intern in a hospital my advice is be responsible and respectful with the others employers it the most important thing, be on time and show the people you're interesting to learn and appreciated this opportunity ,another advice is think careful what do you like to do and try get a internship help you more have ideas and explorer about your future.
What will you miss about your internship
I will miss my supervisors who help me to build more my human capital and I will the cafeteria who I had the opportunity to known another Colombian woman who motivated me to go toward during my internship, she give advice and push me take advantages of this opportunity I had I will miss all of them everybody .

Thank you letter
May 15 2012
Dear Blandly Leonard and Alexander G.
With all my admiration, I thank you so much for being such
great supervisors. I really enjoyed this internship because it was my first
time to work with professionals and get the experience working with patients.
It was pleasure to work in the volunteer department because they gave the
opportunity to explore the life of physical therapists and people who dedicate
their time to help others. In the
physical therapy department, I feel like I’m with my basketball team because
Alex has a sense humor and empathy.
Blandly, you are a great teacher that allowed me to utilize my mind and
to be thoughtful. I really admired the way you taught me the important factors
for any person who wants to become a therapist. It’s important to have a strong
personality and control your feelings and be compassionate and love to help
people.
I am thankful to you blandly and Alex. Both of you were very patient with me the
first days of internship. For me it was really hard to work with professional
people and be on time. I had to work
hard to try understand you sometimes because I am stilling learning English as
my second language. I have been here
just two years and I think I improved English at my internship. Working at
Maimonides helped me get better and also learn new words and have more
knowledge about medicine. It was a really good experience during this
internship because I like how you both introduced me to the rest of the
employees in the hospital. You made me feel comfortable and to be part of a
team.
I am really amazed by the way Maimonides Medical Center
serves people with respect, integrity, compassion, all proving better health
for the patients. I really appreciate the opportunity you gave me to volunteer
in the Physical Therapist department. Having a chance to interact with patients
and listening to them touched me and made me a better communicator and helped
me become a better person and learn important factors to be involved in a
hospital.
I am really proud to have the opportunity to intern with
you. Both of you are the best
supervisors I have ever had during my first internship of my life. I will miss
you guys a lot. Take care.
Sincerely,
Michelle Steffy Candelo

Physical Therapist Internship
Its important during my internship to wear a blue jack in the hospital, because employers need to know
Identify the volunteer serves inside the principal building.
The most important thing in my internship is to be hygienic. So I have to clean the physical therapist for example tools or walkers those are some of my duties of everyday .
PT Alexander in my (left side) and PT Blandly in my
(Right side) both of them were my supervisors they help with my internship and understand more about this carrier specially their responsibilities.
I'm thankful I have known people to help me build my human capital habits and also help me develop part of my personality. Thanks Mr. Blandly, Alex and Mr. Sean to gave this opportunity to see how is the real life after graduate of high school and see as so important go to college.
Most of my challenges of my internship were be on time so, Be on time its a good habit you must to have to give a good expression to others.

Mid point reflection
Physical Therapist
What is similar and/or different about the culture of your internship workplace environment compared to IHSL's school environment? Provide at least two specific examples.?
Well in your Internship its total completely different than school, in my case I have the Internship in the hospital and I work with many people, I must to be respectful, mature and responsible with my job, hospital its no a beauty place, because you see sick people or worse, School its just a space you can talk with your friends or teacher and also its a noise place but in the hospital is more a quiet place .The similar of this two places its both are many people and the big difference its that structure of the buildings and the purpose.
What new skills have you learned that you can apply at other jobs? For example, have you learned to become a better verbal communicator as a result of interacting with clients each day? If so, how and where could that skill help you get a job in the future?
Well during this Internship I learned how is important to know what skill do you need to be success in the carrier you want to study, I would like be .Physical Therapist because I like help people to get better first a all and second a all, I like sport and this carrier could do both in the same time so help people and have disciple its ones of important skill I learn in my Internship.
What kind of relationship do you have with your mentor and co-workers?
I have a good relationship with everybody. most of they make me smile because I some quiet sometimes, and some of them told me also get a carrier its the best thing I can do for my life and the same time help people its something great .
How have you grown as a result of interacting with professional adults?
Well in the Internship you must share with adult people that's means you must to talk mature and respectful all time and do not use bad vocabulary words or teenager style things so in this aspect I grown and get better.
What kinds of communication skills have you gained? Specifically, how has your English improved since beginning internship?
This internship is a great opportunity to see how is important to learn English, sometimes in my internship my supervisor talk fast and some times I do get it this make me feel no bad but embarrassing. but this make me practices more English with my brothers at home and improve myself
What other kinds of skills/abilities have you gained so far? Think of the tasks you complete and consider the abilities required to do those tasks. Provide specific examples such as: Each day at internship I'm required to interview patients and record their answers in a hospital database. As a result, I've gotten much better at listening and being able to ask follow up questions. I've also improved my hand writing abilities and typing speed because I have to record patient answers by hand and then type them later. ?
Well during my Internship, I'm like a assistant of my supervisor, I help my supervisor with the patient, I must to take note like blood pressure, clean a walker for the patient and also prepare the bed and help my supervisor with exercises the patient need to do to get better. Was no easy for the first days but I a flexible person and this skill help to learn faster what I have to do this all abilities I learned during my internship.
How has the altered internship schedule affected you? How have you reorganized your time to make sure you are getting all your class work done? If you're not getting your assignments done, what can you do for the remaining five weeks to ensure you earn better grades?
Well this internship makes more harder everything for you, in my case, Its no a be deal for me because I raise part of my life do three or two different activities per day like go to basketball practices, do stuff in home and school , now with the internship you most to distribute you time as well because you have project to do and I wouldn't lost grades, the only bad thing about Internship is you need stop something to do you things on time, in my case I do not have time to go to basketball practices again so is bad but you have to choose and complete everything .
.You have FIVE WEEKS of internship left. What are two goals do you hope to accomplish during the remaining weeks? These goals could include knowledge you hope to gain or skills you hope to learn.
Well I hope learn more about medicine and get better with My English as well, and do different task during my Internshipan have more network conections.
What new things have you learned about New York City as a result of being "out and about"?
When you have a new life in this city always new experiences come up to you .This experiences with the internship for example let me now one of important things of the life is make good decisions, and help people is a good thing learn a new language and get more expectations.
This are a good example about my internship, The mission of an Physical Therapist is help a patient to get a physical motor functions. And help people to through exercises can walk and can do normal activities.
